Funding Goal: US$1,000
If you don't feel like investing or lending your money, you could always just give it to us! We will use it for software, R&D, anything related to the business. But - and this is a promise - we won't spend any of it on beer. We figure we need US$1,000 to cover our basic costs over the next six months, and to make it easy for you, we're only asking for individual donations of US$5, although you're free to multiply that if you're feeling generous!
What more can we say? You understand the deal. We're here, trying to build a business in Taiwan - the country that makes all the hardware we need. But Taiwanese banks won't lend to foreigners, and all those cool websites like Kickstarter and Prosper, they only deal with people in the USA.
The VC industry is in it's infancy here, and we have been reliably informed (in an email from Guy Kawasaki, no less) that investors in Silicon Valley only invest in US businesses.
In desperation, we turned to the government of Taiwan. They have huge budgets available to support new businesses in Taiwan .... but once again it's not easy for foreigners. And - this is the good bit - they don't support startups that don't have outside funding. They will give you money if you have money, but if not then you have to go begging to your friends!
Here's what I'll do, if you donate today, I'll put you on the list of preferred investors ahead the people who put into the first and second rounds. If and when we prove that this business can make money, you will have the opportunity to invest in it. (Proportional to your donation today.)
