Movie Powered Fat Camp

This idea is based on two things:

  1. Ever since I was a kid I thought I was over weight. In retrospect it turns out I wasn't, at least not by our more portly, modern standards. Anyway, I always thought I needed to loose weight.
  2. I love movies. Especially I like positive movies that moves and inspires me. I remember 8 and sitting in my friend Magnus' room watching Bruce Lee movies. They made us totally wild and we would periodically stop the movie to try our own fight scenes. Rocky, Rambo, Jackie Chan, Top Gun, Jean Claude van Damme, Iron Eagles, Red Dawn...these are but some characters, movies or actors that got my butt out of chair to kick at some unsuspecting tree or sybling.

When I was 16 and went to Air Force camp, we watched Top Gun EVERY DAY for 3 weeks. It pushed and inspired us through a mini-bootcamp.

So I have a theory that schools and other instutions that try to influence people are not using the power of the movies enough.

I envision a fat camp where portly kids can go to have a whole bunch of fun, properly brain washed by a nice mix of Hollywood's finest.

Of course this doesn't have to be for loosing weight only. Why couldn't one do the same with people who might need a career push whatever?

One day I will try this idea.

1. love it!
That's an awesome idea!

One can carefully mold people by exposing them to great acting. Actually, here are two other reasons why this is great.

Most people might get a boost from an inspirational movie, but few actually act on those impulses (which in case of murderous rampaging war movies is a GOOD thing). Maybe by "indoctrinating" kids to use the power of the movie to act, they will keep on doing this afterwards in real life?

Fat people are fat because...sedentary lifestyles, right? Sitting in the couch looking at movies eating chips! What if one can turn that scene around? One teach kids to work out in front of the TV. Hook them up with some cordless headsets they can use on just about any modern TV/PC and then you teach them how to work out to/during a movie. By resetting what one "should" do when watching something maybe one can change their lives.

Then of course by exposing them to fun sports etc maybe that will help them as well. The half-way out of the camp could be one day with counselor visiting health clubs in their area and testing out the stuff, push them on their way to a long healthy and fun life!
