Back when I was living in the USA, I had a girlfriend named Carla who was exceptionally good with her hands. She was a carpenter, model maker, movie-set builder, you name it.

She was also a good-looking girl who had worked on kid's education programs at a museum or two. We were both at that time looking for ways to capitalise on our diverse experiences (nothing's changed) and trying to figure out where to go next with life.

The solution was a TV show - Carla Can!

Here's the scoop: A school contacts the show producers with a project they want a hand with. It could be some vital new facility, help with a theatre project, or something off the wall like building a giant catapult. The more crazy and potentially educational the better.

Then Carla and team would be dispatched to make it happen, with a limited amount of time and budget, the catch being that the students would have to do the bulk of the work. The show would start with the challenge, proceed through the analysis and planning stage to the bit where the students have to learn how to do new and exciting stuff, and culminate with them actually getting it together.

I wanted to put the last part to music - maybe the Can Can, performed by a different band every time.
