I really have nothing against Sergey and Larry, and in fact I know very little about them or their company, but they're pretty much the only people doing what they do and they do it for me almost every day. So naturally I find myself thinking about Google a lot, and making the occasional observation.

Most of my thoughts so far involve fixing things, which is a process that involves the assumption that something isn't as good as it can be. This might give the impression that I have an axe to grind, which is totally untrue and I hope nobody will hold it against me.

But all the same, when I look at Google I find myself thinking "that's not good" quite often. And the more I think about it the more I start to wonder if things could be improved. I've put my cogitations about Google in a seperate section because there's a theme developing, and I don't want it to impact the generally positive "can do" approach that I try to maintain in my regular postings.
Google: Big rainbow monster, a couple of nice guys out to save the world, or an organisation that is losing its way? You decide.

Hot on the heels of my whingeing about the way Google seem to have miscategorised me, and presumably therefore my site and visitors, here's a comment intended to be helpful.

It concerns an observation I made one day while one of my high-school groups was working through a list of questions, the answers to which could only be found online. Every single one of them went to yahoo.com.tw to search. None had heard of Google. Since then I've questioned many adults, and never met anyone who uses Google as their search engine.

I was looking into signing up for the Adsense thingy at Google the other day and an idea occurred to me.

How hard would it be to create some kind of bot program thingy that sits there on your computer all day clicking on adsense links on websites? The sites would have to be chosen from a list, and the list would be the sites belonging to all the people using the program.

In other words, ten people all agree to click on each others' links. Against the rules, probably illegal, and certainly unethical. But I couldn't help thinking of it all the same.
