Some time ago I lived on a boat for a while, and always slept incredibly well. I think it was because the of the constant motion, which was very slight but always there.

My friends and I theorised that the action mimiced the feeling you had as a baby being rocked to sleep by your mother (at least in terms of evolutionary memory, if not real personal experience).

So why can't you buy a bed today that will rock you to sleep? It wouldn't take much, just a small motor to get the bed moving once you're in and keep it going.

Maybe it should also play the sound of waves breaking, or whatever natural sound you prefer.

1. 4 jacks and a remote control
I totally like this idea. But most people already have a bed and we don't want to force people to add to the landfills. But could we invent a device that we can add to all beds? How about 4 jacks that the bed's legs can stand on? These jacks could be coordinated and controlled via IR or RF. Then one could have a remote control that would make the jacks rock you to sleep. Maybe one could also have the same remote control a CD player or Mp3 player so that one could have noise that corresponded with the movement.

This sounds like a totally doable device. Anyone can do that?

It could also make that "shaking bed" phenomena like one can find in American love hotels. Shake it! LOL
